The French education system is divided into regional administrative districts known as académies. France has thirty académies, each overseen by a chief education officer called a recteur (male) or rectrice (female).
Since October 2024, the Académie de Poitiers has been led by Frédéric PERISSAT, who serves as recteur.
The Académie de Poitiers covers four French departments : Charente, Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sèvres, and Vienne. It is one of the three académies that make up the academic region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The Académie de Poitiers employs nearly 29,000 staff members who work daily to support the educational journey of approximately 300,000 students, from nursery school to higher education. The academy is committed to social progress and innovation, with the primary objective of preparing every student for the best possible future.
The public education service of the Académie de Poitiers also aims to contribute to the development and attractiveness of the territories of Charente, Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sèvres, and Vienne, encompassing urban, peri-urban, and rural areas alike.
The academy is fully engaged in promoting social advancement and personal fulfilment for all. Its academic strategy places equal opportunities, as well as the professional development of teachers and staff, at the heart of its ambitions.
Whether in primary schools, middle schools, high schools, or higher education institutions, every member of staff contributes to the social and professional integration of young people.

Why we are taking part in the Balance4Life project :
Mental health was a national cause in France for 2025 and will remain so for 2026. Aware that student well-being plays a major role in the quality of learning, and that the Erasmus+ program contributes to open-mindedness and intercultural exchange, we are pleased to have joined the Building Balance4Life Together project. In this project, we hope to share our experiences and programs for students, working together to develop programs that will have an impact on the well-being of French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and, we hope, European students.
Das französische Bildungssystem ist in regionale Verwaltungsbezirke unterteilt, die als Académies bezeichnet werden. Frankreich verfügt über dreißig Académies, die jeweils von einer leitenden Bildungsperson geführt werden – einem recteur (männlich) oder einer rectrice (weiblich).
Seit Oktober 2024 wird die Académie de Poitiers von Frédéric PERISSAT geleitet, der das Amt des recteur innehat.
Die Académie de Poitiers umfasst vier französische Départements: Charente, Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sèvres und Vienne. Sie ist eine von drei Académies, die gemeinsam die akademische Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine bilden.
Die Académie de Poitiers beschäftigt nahezu 29.000 Mitarbeitende, die täglich den Bildungsweg von rund 300.000 Lernenden begleiten – von der Vorschule bis zur Hochschulbildung. Die Akademie engagiert sich für sozialen Fortschritt und Innovation mit dem vorrangigen Ziel, jede Schülerin und jeden Schüler bestmöglich auf die Zukunft vorzubereiten.
Der öffentliche Bildungsdienst der Académie de Poitiers trägt außerdem zur Entwicklung und Attraktivität der Regionen Charente, Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sèvres und Vienne bei und berücksichtigt dabei gleichermaßen städtische, stadtrandnahe und ländliche Gebiete.
Die Akademie setzt sich umfassend für sozialen Aufstieg und persönliche Entfaltung aller Menschen ein. Ihre Bildungsstrategie stellt Chancengleichheit sowie die berufliche Weiterentwicklung von Lehrkräften und Mitarbeitenden in den Mittelpunkt ihrer Ziele.
Ob in Grundschulen, Mittelschulen, Gymnasien oder Hochschulen – alle Mitarbeitenden tragen zur sozialen und beruflichen Integration junger Menschen bei.
Gemeinsam engagieren wir uns für ein zentralisiertes Schulsystem, das inklusiv, ambitioniert und fürsorglich gegenüber Schülerinnen, Schülern und ihren Familien ist – in allen Regionen.
Warum wir am Projekt Balance4Life teilnehmen:
Psychische Gesundheit war in Frankreich im Jahr 2025 ein nationales Anliegen und wird dies auch 2026 bleiben. In dem Bewusstsein, dass das Wohlbefinden der Lernenden eine entscheidende Rolle für die Qualität des Lernens spielt und dass das Erasmus+-Programm Offenheit und interkulturellen Austausch fördert, freuen wir uns, Teil des Projekts Building Balance4Life Together zu sein.
Mit diesem Projekt möchten wir unsere Erfahrungen und Programme für Schülerinnen und Schüler teilen und gemeinsam Konzepte entwickeln, die das Wohlbefinden französischer, deutscher, spanischer, portugiesischer und – hoffentlich – europäischer Lernender nachhaltig stärken.
